Staff Assistant Position
We are searching for an organized, cheerful and dedicated person to join our team as a Staff Assistant. This is an entry-level position, and Capitol Hill experience is preferred but not necessary. The individual in this role will provide administrative support to the CEO and associates, and will have the opportunity to learn about government relations and defense issues. A successful candidate will have experience in administrative duties and have basic understanding of Capitol Hill. The Staff Assistant position will work from 9 am – 5 pm, and will occasionally work evening receptions. Ervin Hill Strategy is a government relations firm that focuses on defense, cyber security, healthcare, and business development.
- Deliver and sort mail daily
- Update and maintain website
- Ordering office and kitchen supplies
- Maintain and update client timesheets
- Process monthly billing
- Schedule and organize meeting requests
- Submit accurate LD-1/LD-2 and political contribution reports
- Assist with research projects, proposals and PowerPoint
- Schedule and assist with firm receptions
- Answer incoming calls promptly and relay information to associates if they are absent

The Ervin Hill Strategy Internship Program is designed for recent college juniors, seniors and graduates pursing a career in communications, government relations or public affairs. Our unpaid program gives each intern a “hands-on” experience in each aspect of the firm, along with the ability to network, including developing high-profile policymaker contacts. Along with the day-to-day responsibilities in the office, our interns will have a chance to represent the firm at receptions and events, engage with guest speakers in different fields, and work collaboratively on a project developed by the firm. We are looking for self-starters who are comfortable multi-tasking and delivering results in a timely manner.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Conduct media monitoring
- Attend committee hearings and prepare summaries
- Track legislation relevant to clients
- Assist with scheduling meetings
- Assist with legislative research
- Provide support with event planning
